Standard SSL Certificates

Standard SSL certificates are verified according to the domain name. Typically, this is done by sending an email to an address listed in the WHOIS record for the domain. This ensures that the person requesting the SSL certificate has control of the domain name in question.

Wildcard SSL Certificates

A Wildcard certificate is similar to a Standard SSL certificate, except that it can be used with multiple subdomains of a domain.

Organization Validation (OV) SSL Certificates

With an Organization Validated (OV) SSL certificate the certificate authority will verify the actual business that is attempting to get the certificate. This ensures that the organization requesting the SSL certificate is a real entity.

Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates

Extended Validation (EV) certificates use a higher level of authentication and were designed to increase customer confidence in ecommerce through a stringent verification process and specific browser cues like the green address bar.

Code Signing SSL Certificates

A Code Signing certificate is used in the process of digitally signing executables and scripts to confirm the software author and guarantee that the code has not been altered or corrupted since it was signed by use of a cryptographic hash.

SAN-UC SSL Certificates

A Unified Communications/Subject Alternative Name SSL Certificate enables you to easily protect multiple domains and sub-domains using just one SSL. It supports MS Exchange 2007/2010 and OCS 2007.

How SSL Works

A SSL certificate is digitally "signed" by a certificate authority that web browsers already trust. This allows the web browser to verify the identity of a secure site before sending private personal information, such as bank account or credit card numbers.
