A dedicated IP address is an IP address that is only used by you, and not shared with other hosting accounts. With a dedicated IP address your site is the only site hosted on that IP address.
Generally speaking most shared hosting accounts do not need a dedicated IP address in order to function, however there are some benefits to using a dedicated IP address which are listed below.
